Sick Kids

It doesn't seem to matter how old our children are, when they are sick, we feel helpless.

This is one of my children, Lauren. She is home with pneumonia right now. Unfortunately her home is 50 miles from my home.

She is 27 years old, and can take care of herself. She works in a doctor's clinic, so I am sure she is getting good treatment.

Still, the parent in me wants to help her. At least make chicken soup for her. Her sister is there for her.
Being a mom seems to bring different challenges as we age, not easier, just different.

Swatch

This swatch is just that, I have no idea what it is for, just the pleasure of knitting. Look to this post and this one for an explanation of the colorway.

Out of the box,,,,Or In?

Members of my family will tell you that I hate to be photographed. I usually avoided birthday and Christmas photos by holding a gift box over my face, and they do have many of those shots.

Some things are in the genes...............

Here is Emili, with her own box , hers has multiple uses.

Like Grandma, she hides.

She has a secret, her box has something inside,

,,,,,,,,, her own little ecosystem, complete with sand, plastic lizard and palm trees, purple turtle, and animals of unknown species drawn on paper.

I informed Emili that she had made a DIORAMA, and explained what the word meant. True to her six year old self, she said she could only remember diarrhea ,,,,,,,oh well....

Little Balls of Yarn, now pink!

So, we had some leftovers from the yarn tasting event, and from the kool aid dying class. Just like food leftovers, I mixed them..... and hoped for the best. Throwing all the leftover yarns balls in a ziploc bag, I added the cherry koolaid, and zapped it several times in the microwave. This how they looked after dying, some yarns just soaked up the dye and some didn't take any.

I didn't unwind the balls before dying them , so the color was most vibrant on the outside, while some of the insides were still white.
Here is how they looked after unwinding and hanging to dry.
I am anxious to see how this knits up, but I have absolutely no idea about what to make from all these short bits. Any suggestions?
