some things you never forget

Some things we never forget. Some are universal. Most people remember where they were major news happens. I was in second grade, in a two room schoolhouse when I heard of the assignation of JFK. It was a lovely, clear day in Wisconsin on September 11, 2001. These moments are imprinted in our brains, we don't forget.

Good things are remembered, also. Like my first kiss, I was 14, but I'm keeping his identity to myself. Holding a grand baby for the first time. A favorite car. We don't forget.

Our bodies have memories that our consciousness's do not. So many times, people have told me "I knit many years ago, But now I don't remember how." I just put the needles in their hands and give them some tips and encouragement and Voila! the hands recall what the brains do not. Humans are made that way, we remember.

So, today I remembered how to do something that I thought I could not do. It has been at least 30 years since I rode a bicycle. It was a bit wobbly at first, but my old body still remembers how to balance and pedal at the same time....maybe all that time at the spinning wheel helped. I won't be biking long distances soon, but it sure was fun. It all came back to me, just like riding a bike!
